Yesterday, I had the pleasure of photographing Taylor and Olivia’s wedding. Remember when I did their engagement photos? Well, yesterday they tied the knot! I think that this may have been the most elegant wedding I have photographed to date. Everything was gorgeous.
The day started at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Centreville. It was a perfect day for a wedding – relatively sunny skies, not a drop of rain to be seen, and the balmy warmth of a Virginia summer was everywhere. Inside, the ceremony was small and intimate. Olivia’s brother was an altar server. Parents did the readings. The priest gave an stirring talk about love, unity, and the lifelong bond that marriage creates. I particularly enjoyed this venue, as I have spent plenty of time at this church through my life. Taylor and Olivia pronounced their love for one another in front of all of their family and friends, exchanged rings, and were married around 3pm. After that, it was on to the party!
The reception was BEAUTIFUL. The venue was the Anderson House in Washington, DC. Taylor and his family are members of the Society of Cincinnati, so he has been to a number of formal events at the Anderson House, and he noted that it was exciting and meaningful to be having his wedding reception there. The outside of the Anderson House was stunning, and the interior reflected the same grandeur. Ornate architecture, vivid paintings, and decorations adorned every wall and hallway of the venue. Gold was a prominent color amongst all of these features. The house has deep ties to history, and has many antique pieces of art and furniture throughout its’ immense halls.
Taylor and Olivia made their entrance down the grand staircase into their reception area. Tables were set up, their family and friends were all waiting, and music was already playing. I love when there is energy at weddings – when you can feel the happiness of everyone for the new couple’s life together. Taylor and Olivia’s wedding most definitely had this. Throughout the night, toasts were given, stories told, and laughter and merriment was found throughout every table.
Congratulations, Taylor and Olivia, on your new life together. I wish you two many years of love and happiness together as a couple. Enjoy the preview!
