Last Friday, I had the pleasure of shooting my first wedding at one of my favorite places ever – George Mason University! I hold a special place in my heart for this school because it is where I got my BFA in Graphic Design, but it is also where I first picked up a camera and started snapping photos. It started me on my photography path, and as a result of going there for college and meeting various people along the way, I now get to shoot weddings as part of my living. Weddings like Sean and Erin’s….
I first met this adorable couple back in Freshman year at college. We met up at CCM, or Catholic Campus Ministry, on campus. It was an awesome time – the community, fellowship, and friendships made were pretty crucial for anyone starting college. Sean and Erin were friends for a long while before they started dating. As the story goes, Erin fell for Sean quite a bit before he fell for her, and the two of them grew deeper in friendship until the day that they started dating.
Fast forward four years, and we arrive at their wedding day! These two were radiating happiness and excitement as they got ready to make the lifelong vow that would join them together as one. To date, this was the largest wedding that I have shot – they had somewhere between 250-300 guests in attendance! Sean and Erin’s happiness was mirrored by all those around them. In fact, this was one of the most joyous weddings I have had the pleasure of shooting. When I sat down with Sean and Erin for their pre-wedding consultation, I asked what three words they would describe their wedding day with. Their response was “party, jovial, fun”. I’m pretty sure they hit the nail on the head! The reception was held at the Hylton Performing Arts Center, also part of GMU’s campus, but in Prince William County. They rented out the entire Theater room for the reception, which was perfect for the large crowd.
The day was smooth sailing all in all. For a few minutes we had some rain come down (which made for some comical photos of Sean and Erin running into the Hylton Center for the reception after couples photos), but the skies quickly cleared and everything ran smoothly from there.
I hope you enjoy looking through the photos from Sean and Erin’s big day. Congrats to the new couple and their life together – I wish you two all the happiness and love in the world.
A quick prayer as the ceremony started!
Sean’s first look of his bride-to-be! I LOVE capturing this shot – the anticipation, the marveling at her beauty. It is awesome.
And here is Erin, walking down the aisle toward her future husband.
Priceless expressions as Fr. Peter discussed how oblivious Sean was to Erin’s interest in him for a long while before he asked her out four years ago.
Married at last!
