Happy New Year, friends! I am so excited to share the first wedding of 2016 with you. Mike and Kirstin (remember their engagement photos from last year?) got married last weekend, and it was so much fun to photograph the wedding! I was a bit concerned the night before, as it was pouring down rain, but luck was on our side, because on the big day, the weather cleared up and was dry. There were so many exciting elements that made this a great wedding!
The day started at Kirstin’s parents house. The bridesmaids were all abuzz getting ready for the wedding as I walked in the door. They were dancing around the house and singing to the radio as they put on their dresses. Kirstin was radiating excitement and joy for the day ahead. Her family was helping with anything and everything from getting her ready to sweeping the front porch of the house so we could take some photos.
From there, we drove over to All Saints Catholic Church, where the ceremony was to be held. I love doing weddings here, as it is one of the brightest, naturally lit churches I have ever shot at. The ceremony was beautiful – simple, elegant, and full of people who cared about the couple. After the ceremony, we traipsed around Old Town Manassas for a bit, taking photos of the bridal party at the train station and various spots nearby.
The reception was also a blast! I met Kirstin in high school, and Mike in college (before the two of them even knew each other), so I knew almost everyone at the reception. It was so fun getting to catch up with old friends, and people from various stages of life. Most of all, it was exciting seeing the love and support that both Mike and Kirstin had from all of the family and friends who were there celebrating, and those that were helping to make sure the whole day and event went smoothly.
Congrats on your new life together, you two, and I wish you all the best! Enjoy your blog preview.
Mike’s first look of his bride-to-be. He broke down in tears as she walked up the aisle. I think that this perfectly exemplifies the joy and excitement that every bride and groom should have on such a special day.
That RING though! Love.
“Great! Now make a funny pose!”
The George Mason University group photo! I had to pass off one of my cameras to rep my alma mater!
Catching up with friends from high school is always a special treat at weddings!
